I'm an Orlando maternity and family photographer. I want to capture the important moments in your life. Fleeting moments of growth and change.
Please, grab a cup of tea and enjoy exploring my recent work and personal musings!
Most women have never had maternity photos done so you don’t know what to expect. That’s why I’ve created this guide to discuss the top 5 ways to prepare for your maternity photos.
The L Balagtas Photography experience is designed to make this process stress free. You basically just show up and we take care of all the details. But, there are just a few things that I recommend you do prior to your session.
What a great way to prepare for your maternity photos than to pamper yourself at the salon?
During your photo session, your hands are going to be touching your bump. The focus will be on your belly and with your hands embracing it, I recommend having beautiful nails.
Your feet show as well so pedicures are a must.
I recommend that you choose neutral colors to compliment all your gown choices. Nothing draws attention away from your adorable bump and beautiful face faster than bright colored nails that clash with your outfit.
Its a good idea to shave and wax prior to your session date.
I completely understand how we often neglect shaving our legs, especially during pregnancy with a big bump in the way. But, shaving your legs is a good idea. I always have you pop your legs out of the dress for different poses, so they show!
Also, if you plan on doing boudoir style photos with fabrics and/or nude, then it’s a great idea to get your bikini area waxed as well.
The extra weight pregnancy can make our ankles and legs swell easily. Standing for just an hour or two can make them turn to sausages. Give yourself permission to relax the days leading up to your session.
One of the best ways to prepare for your maternity photos is to relax- mentally and physically.
Give your body the much needed rest it deserves.
Its a great idea to moisturize your entire body- especially the knees and elbows.
Ashy legs are difficult to edit.
But, worst case scenario, I have lotion that I can help you apply!
Soft, smooth skin shows in photos. So, go ahead and ask hubby for a full body lotion-ing WITH a foot rub.
During your dress fitting, we’ll discuss everything you need to bring for your session. I’ll give you a list of the undergarments you’ll need. So, make sure you come with those.
I typically recommend undergarments that are seamless and don’t pinch the body. You’ll be safe with skin colored bra and underwear.
If you’re having difficulty finding the underwear you need, I do have some bras in the client closet that you are welcome to use!
